'Tree of Life' in Antigua

"Whilst covering the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta I was invited aboard the 'Tree of Life', a 90 foot schooner built in Canada. Despite its size and wooden rigging, the captain and crew sailed the boat hard into the Caribbean swell, with the waves crashing over the bow and running along the lee side over the decks to where I stood photographing the action." Ian Badley's sailing photography covers a wide range of subjects. From the colour and excitement of dinghy racing, to the wealth and glamour of maxi-yachts and the pure style of classic ocean racing. The common factor is his obsession with light, which means painstaking preparation to capture the perfect image.
