Tips to support someone when they buy their first home

It’s harder than ever to get on the property ladder. That’s why you should make sure that you give someone props when they finally manage to buy their first home. After all, they’ll have no doubt battled through months of viewings, solicitor’s fees and surveys. It’s a special time for the new homeowner – and one that you should be sure to acknowledge. With this in mind, here are just a few ways that you can show your support.

Send a card
Pink and Greene stock a wide range of cards to commemorate the occasion. Some are bright and playful, while others are sophisticated and serious. All, of course, are made with recycled materials and include a donation to charity. The new homeowner will no doubt be touched that you’ve gone to the effort and put some thought into choosing a greeting card just for them.

Offer to help
Don’t just be a friendly face – be an extra pair of hands! You can get in on the action just by offering to help. This may be by moving furniture, researching the area or even offering them a place to stay in between moving. Whatever you do, make sure that the new homeowner knows you’re happy to support them in any way you can.

Stop by and listen
Some people can spend years saving for their first home. Therefore you should acknowledge that they will probably be very proud of their new digs. When you get a chance you should head round to the property and listen to their ideas and plans. You never know, they might even tip you off on what would make a good housewarming present.

Support you can’t buy
Homeowners can fork out for furniture, kitchenware and utility bills, but they can’t buy support. That’s where you come in. Show someone you’re thrilled about their new home by checking out our greeting cards for the perfect ‘new home’ card choice.
