A new baby boy!

Peter Rabbit was the most popular character created by Beatrix Potter. He was named after a pet rabbit Beatrix had as a child called Peter Piper. He first appeared in a letter in 1893 from Beatrix to Noel Moore, the five-year-old son of her old governess. The boy was ill, and Beatrix wrote him a picture story to cheer him up. The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published in 1902 and has sold 40 million copies. The stories about Peter's sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail, his cousin Benjamin Bunny, and all the other characters, have sold over 150 million copies in 35 languages.
